Nicolas Kurtovitch


  

Nicolas Kurtovitch, born December 20, 1955 in Noumea, is a writer from New Caledonia. He has published several poetry collections, 3novels, 4 novellas, and 5 plays.

He received (in conjunction with other authors) the prize for the narrative prose of the Ouessant Island Book Fair in 2001. He received another prize from the same show, that of poetry in 2003. In 2008, he obtained the Antonio Viccaro International Poetry Prize, awarded at the Poetry Market in Paris. In 2011, he was awarded two prizes in New Caledonia: the New Caledonia government's Popa? prize awarded at the International Ocean Book Fair (SILO) and The Vi Nim? Prize (literally "Formation narrative" ) from a literature contest held every two years by the Lyceums of New Caledonia. He was the founding president of the Writers' Association of New Caledonia (AENC) from 1996 to 2006, and again from 2010 to 2014,

He received from the Président of the French Republic the distinction of “Chevalier des arts et des lettres” in 2008.
